On April 8, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) celebrated its 130th anniversary and 70 years since its westward relocation, outlining a roadmap for becoming a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. The event, held at the Si Yuan Student Activities Center, drew over 3,000 guests, including government officials, university presidents, alumni, and scholars.

The High-Quality Development Conference hosted representatives from over 70 institutions, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, the University of Hong Kong, and the University of Macau.

Vice Minister of Education Wang Guangyan congratulated XJTU, highlighting its leadership in China's educational landscape. He urged the university to uphold the spirit of the westward movement, focus on virtue in education, and enhance scientific and technological self-reliance.

Zhao Yide, secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, pledged full support for XJTU, praising its historical contributions and urging it to excel in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and university-local integration.

President Zhang Liqun reviewed XJTU's 130-year journey from its founding as Nanyang College in 1896, noting its role in cultivating over 400,000 talents. He reaffirmed the commitment to "Seeking Truth in Learning and Ensuring Success in Practice" as XJTU aims to serve national strategies.

Nobel laureates Samuel Ting and Andre Geim delivered video messages, commending XJTU's achievements and potential for scientific collaboration.

Lu Jianjun, Party secretary of XJTU, emphasized the university's focus on national strategic needs and industry-university-research integration. The celebration concluded with attendees singing the university anthem, "For the Light of the World," marking a memorable end to the milestone event.
