On January 23, the Xi'an Tang Poetry Culture Research Institute was officially unveiled at Northwest University's Taibai Campus in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. This institute is a collaboration between the Propaganda Department of the Xi'an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Northwest University.

The ceremony was attended by over 50 participants, including Wang Hui, deputy director of the Propaganda Department, Jiang Lin, secretary of the Party Committee of Northwest University, university officials, academic advisors, and media representatives.

Jiang Lin emphasized Northwest University’s role as a leading center for Tang Dynasty (618–907) literature, supported by its Research Center for Chinese Culture. He acknowledged Professor Li Hao’s team for their foundational work on the "Tang Poetry City" project in Xi'an, which facilitated the institute's establishment. Jiang affirmed the university's commitment to advancing Tang poetry research and supporting local cultural development.
The event marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Northwest University and the Propaganda Department, aiming to establish the "City of Tang Poetry" as a cultural brand and support Xi'an's cultural revitalization.


Wang Hui highlighted the institute as a new initiative to integrate resources between Xi'an's propaganda and cultural systems and local universities. He noted its potential to enhance research, preservation, and innovative development of Tang poetry culture while boosting Xi'an's international communication capabilities. Wang assured full support from the Municipal Propaganda Department, aiming for the institute to excel in cultural heritage preservation and school-local cooperation.
During the ceremony, Tian Minggang announced the establishment documents and the appointment of the institute’s head. Li Hao, the inaugural dean, introduced the academic committee and outlined plans for a "Tang Poetry Museum."
The institute aims to align academic research with regional development needs, focusing on the creative transformation of Tang poetry culture and supporting Xi'an’s cultural identity as the "City of Tang Poetry."
