The "Hello, Terra Cotta Warriors!" event recently took place at the Chinese Embassy in the US, the Bowers Museum, and various American educational institutions. Organized by the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum site Museum and Xidian University, and guided by the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, the initiative aimed to enhance cultural relic protection through technology and promote cultural exchange between China and the US.
At the Chinese Embassy, over a hundred participants from Washington International School and National Cathedral School attended. Shen Xuesong, minister counselor of the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in the US, delivered the opening speech, with Li Gang, director of the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum site Museum, addressing attendees via video.
Experts from Xidian University and the Smithsonian Institution offered lectures in a hybrid format. Students engaged in the interactive "I am a cultural relic restorer" experience, learning firsthand about "technology-enabled cultural relics protection," showcasing the fusion of technology and culture.
In Los Angeles, at the Bowers Museum, Xidian University scholars collaborated on the exhibition "More Than Terracotta Warriors - New Archaeological Discoveries in Shaanxi in the 21st Century", providing lectures and workshops that attracted many visitors.
The Xidian University team also visited various schools to conduct cultural activities and discussions. At Washington Yuying Public Charter School, over 400 students participated, while at Sidwell Friends School, more than 180 students attended lectures and cultural activities.
This initiative is part of the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum site Museum's Terra Cotta Warriors Cloud Classroom Project. Xidian University utilized its expertise in information technology and cultural heritage to foster international communication and promote traditional Chinese culture.
