Chang'an University in Xi'an, China, has partnered with Tashkent State Transport University in Uzbekistan to launch the China-Uzbekistan Excellent Engineers College. The college will enroll its first cohort of 30 Uzbek graduate students by the end of September.
This initiative builds on previous collaborations such as the "China Central Asia Five Countries Transport Infrastructure Talent Training Alliance" and the "China Uzbekistan Transport College". The college aims to develop a cooperative education model focusing on "school-enterprise collaboration" and "cross-border joint education", addressing the urgent need for engineering talent in the Belt and Road transport sector.
The college's mission is to cultivate international, innovative engineers with cross-cultural communication skills, advanced engineering knowledge, and the ability to solve complex practical problems. It represents a significant step in China-Uzbekistan educational cooperation, promoting a "co-consultation, co-construction, and sharing" model in engineering education. This marks a new phase of integration in talent training, scientific research, and academic collaboration.
Offering master's and doctoral programs in fields like "Extreme Environment Major Transportation Infrastructure", "Intelligent Electric Vehicles", and "International Cross-Border Smart Logistics", the college facilitates cross-border learning and practical enterprise experience. Students can earn dual degrees from both Chang'an University and Tashkent State Transport University.
The college has also established an Excellent Engineer Technology Center in collaboration with major corporations such as China State Construction Engineering Corporation and China Railway Construction Corporation, along with Uzbekistan's National Planning and Design Institute. This center supports ongoing projects in Central Asia.
Chang'an University, a national "Double First Class" institution, has a strong legacy of international education and engineering excellence. The new college, established in December 2023, aims to enhance engineering training in strategic areas and improve the quality of master's and doctoral programs, supporting the Belt and Road initiative and fostering international educational cooperation.
