As the new academic year begins, Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, has integrated AI technology into its student welcome activities, launching the "Digital Intelligence Welcome" initiative.

The AI assistant, Jiao Xiao Xin, and the offline AI robot, Xun Xiao, have been introduced to enhance the welcome experience. The "Welcome One Thing" service on the university's one-stop office platform provides a unified entry point for both teachers and students, enabling seamless registration and continuous optimization.

Jiao Xiao Xin, built on the university's AI innovation platform, combines a knowledge base, workflow, and large language model architecture. It offers intelligent services such as Q&A, task management, and navigation for first-year students. The platform supports five key functions: intelligent Q&A, quick service, AI information, registration navigation, and intelligent recommendations, serving as a helpful companion for new student enrollment.

Since its launch on July 16, Jiao Xiao Xin has assisted 7,407 new undergraduates and answered 53,000 questions with over 95% accuracy. This represents a 90% reduction in manual Q&A interactions, significantly easing the welcome process.

Xun Xiao, the offline AI robot, participated in welcoming activities, providing route guidance and interactive communication from the welcome screen at the south gate to the online information service point. Developed by the university's Robotics Research Institute, Xun Xiao debuted at the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games. It features mobile navigation, operational control, and intelligent interaction technology, capable of tasks such as cleaning, security, troubleshooting, and material scheduling.

University leaders, volunteer teachers, and students warmly welcomed new students on-site, showcasing the university's commitment to leveraging AI for a smoother, more efficient welcome experience.
