The Chinese branch of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences was officially established at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on June 23. Academician Sergei Chizhik, the first vice chairman of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, led a delegation of 80 experts to the event, which also saw the presence of Aleksandr Podkovyrov, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in China.

During the ceremony, Li Yanrong, secretary of the Party Committee of Northwestern Polytechnical University, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, citing the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year between the two institutions. This partnership aims to foster cooperation in aerospace technology, composite materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, optics, and optoelectronics.

Chizhik hailed the establishment of the Chinese branch as a milestone in Sino-Belarusian cooperation, aligning with the leaders' vision for enhanced bilateral ties in science, technology, and education. Podkovyrov expressed gratitude for the support received from both governments, hoping for further collaboration under the branch's framework.

Vice President Yue Xiaokui signed cooperation agreements with Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics and Belarusian National Technical University. The event was attended by over 300 experts and scholars from prominent Chinese institutions, showcasing the significance of this partnership in advancing scientific research and innovation.
