Beijing launches 2025 "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program

On May 16, the 2025 "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program was jointly launched by the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and the Beijing Overseas Talents Center (BOTC) in the Zhongguancun International Talents Service Area. Dozens of foreign experts and youth international talents from countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Morocco participated in the event.

A representative from the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality highlighted the significance of the "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program as a concrete measure towards implementing the goals set out in the "Regulations of Beijing Municipality on Improving Language Environment for International Exchanges", and optimizing the language environment through interaction. She expressed her hope that foreign experts and friends would embark on a journey of cultural exchange through the program, encouraging more people to participate in Beijing's development and pay attention to the city's internationalization efforts. 

A representative from the Beijing Overseas Talents Center expressed the wish that the "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program could help international talents better understand China and Beijing, and deeply experience the city's rapid development, cultural charm, and the friendliness of its people. She encouraged them to realize their personal value in promoting the high-quality development of the capital while integrating into Beijing life.

At the launch event, foreign experts and international talents actively shared their insights. Suwankiri Puttachat from Tsinghua University spoke about her experience participating in the "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program. Lincoln Brooke Humphries from China Media Group hoped to deepen his understanding of Beijing through Chinese learning in the future. Mohamed Oubibi from Beijing Normal University shared his idea that learning Chinese will bring more opportunities to his work and life.

Since its inception, the "Happy Chinese with BOTC" program has gained wide popularity and recognition among foreign experts and international talents in Beijing. Tailored to the work needs of international professionals, the program established a mathematicians' class for the Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications, providing 100 hours of Chinese language training in 2024 to ensure practical application. During the launch event, the Institute presented a calligraphy work symbolizing good wishes from "Happy Chinese with BOTC" to the Scholar's Studio for International Talents, where international talents will continue their Chinese learning journey this year.

Participants also visited the Scholar's Studio for International Talents, engaged in fun Chinese language games, and held in-depth exchanges at the event.
