Xidian University, based in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Northwest China, recently hosted the 2024 International Student Freshman Enrollment Education Event at its Student Activity Center. This annual tradition, held at the university's south campus, welcomed a diverse group of international students.

In their first class, Vice Dean Zhang Yang from the School of International Education guided the freshers through campus life and academic regulations, ensuring a smooth transition into university life.

Representatives from the National Security Exit and Entry Brigade and the Xi'an Public Security Traffic Police Detachment also shared essential information on exit and entry policies and traffic safety, enhancing the students' awareness of legal guidelines and safety measures.

Zhang Yang announced the commendation of outstanding international students for the 2023-2024 academic year, with 26 students receiving accolades for their academic excellence and contributions to campus activities.

With a rich history spanning over 70 years, Xidian University has seen nearly 5,000 international students from over 100 countries graduate from its programs.

In 2024, the university welcomed 383 new international students, comprising 207 preparatory students and 174 degree-seeking students, bringing the total number of international students on campus to over 720.
