The International College and the School of Astronautics at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) – located in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – in July organized a social practice week project for Chinese and international students.

The students got involved in various activities in Xi'an and Baoji city in Shaanxi province, Rongshui Miao autonomous county in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Wenchang city in South China's Hainan province – getting a true, comprehensive view of China.

The students took part in the 2022 Sounding Rocket International Summer School activity at the Chang'an campus of the NPU. There, they listened to lectures by aerospace experts, got hands-on experience helping to design rockets, and learned about the flight trajectories that result in the successful launch of rockets.

Fengxian county in Baoji is the hometown of aerospace liquid power in China. The students went to the former site of the Academy of Aerospace Propulsion Technology in Fengzhou town in Fengxian county to learn about the origin and development of the aerospace industry there.

In Rongshui county, NPU students found out more about the aerospace sector alongside local primary and secondary school students and also learned about poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

Also, in Wenchang, the students visited Wenchang Aerospace Modern City, Wenchang International Aerospace City and Wenchang Space Launch Center.

They also witnessed the unveiling ceremony of the Permanent Secretariat Office of the Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance at Wenchang International Aerospace City.
