XJU ensures smooth conduct of postgraduate entrance exams

Xi'an Jiaotong University in the Shaanxi provincial capital went all out to make sure the national entrance examinations for postgraduate students proceeded smoothly.

More than 10,000 students and examinees attended the special examinations in the university’s Xingqing and Yanta campuses from Saturday to Monday, the university said at a statement.

Lu Jianjun, Party secretary of the university, and Wang Shuguo, the university’s president, visited the examination venues on the first day of the examinations to inspect the postgraduate enrollment and examination work.

Lu and Wang urged relevant departments and all frontline staff to stick to their posts to strictly implement the relevant COVID-19 prevention and control measures and to provide logistics support and better services to the students and examinees.

“We should let the students and examinees feel warm attending the exams here,” said Lu.

Before the examinations started, the university has established a special 24-hour hotline to  answer questions from the examinees, said the statement.

Relevant departments also informed the examinees the latest arrangements for pandemic prevention and control measures and required the examinees to cooperate with university, the statement said.

For the 14 examinees who have been put under quarantine, the university arranged teachers to initiate  one-on-one contact with them to confirm examination information and facilitate with the quarantine hotel to make arrangements  in advance.

More than 800 students started their work at 5:50 am during the three-day-exam-period to maintain the order, guide examinees to examination venues, prepare the nucleic acid testing stations and deliver meals to the staff.

A student from Chad surnamed Mahamat said he quickly  signed  up for the volunteer work  when the university began to recruit volunteers.

“It is meaningful to help others,” said the postgraduate student from the university. He now mainly helps guide students to nucleic acid test stations in the campus.

Meanwhile, all the security guards were on duty during the examination period measuring body temperatures, checking identity cards, exam certificates, health code, nucleic acid testing results and related materials..

Yuan Meimei, a student majoring in electronic engineering from Xi'an University of Technology, said she was  particularly satisfied with the conduct of the examinations.

 “The logistics support work has been done very well,  the admission is compact and orderly,” she said.
