Xi'an Jiaotong University, headquartered in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China and one of China’s top universities, held the launching ceremony of its innovation project of "integration of industry and education for collaborative education" on April 8 at its campus.

Seventeen academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, senior leaders of more than 40 universities, directors and managers of more than 40 scientific research institutes and well-known enterprises, officials of Jiangsu province and Qinghai province, and of relevant departments and bureaus of the Shaanxi provincial Party committee and the provincial government, as well as officials of 12 urban districts of Shaanxi province, attended the event.

Fang Guanghua, vice governor of Shaanxi province, stressed that the province’s 110 colleges and universities, including Xi’an Jiaotong University, are an important force for Shaanxi province to become an important national research, culture and education center, build an international higher education platform and an open highland for scientific and technological innovation, and emerge as a regional medical center.

“I hope that colleges and universities in Shaanxi will work together, be proactive, speed up construction of an innovation driven development mode, work together to build the largest incubator and technological innovation highland in Shaanxi Province, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,” Fang said.

Wang Shuguo, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, said that the university will inherit the spirit of Westward Migration and rely on the Western Science and Technology Innovation Harbor to boost the high-quality development of Shaanxi's economy and society, promote western development, form a new pattern, and make fresh contributions in the new era.

At the ceremony, establishment of the university’s College of Future Technology and College of Modern Industry was announced.

The College of Future Technology focuses on the cultivation of scientific and technological innovation leaders with forward-looking cross thinking and scientific literacy, who would be capable of leading future development.

And the College of Modern Industry takes the technology of overcoming the "bottleneck problem" of enterprises as its traction, plays the main role of enterprises, promotes scientific and technological innovation and achievement incubation, and serves national social and economic development.

The ceremony included the launching ceremony of the Global Alumni Collaborative Innovation Center, the signing ceremony of the "6352" project, the signing ceremony of deepening strategic cooperation between Xi'an Jiaotong University and 12 cities in Shaanxi Province, and the signing ceremony of school-enterprise cooperation.
