The Third Tongchuan Poverty Alleviation Products Fair officially opened on Sept 22 in Tongchuan city, Shaanxi province, as part of efforts to help poverty alleviation through consumption and actively expand channels for increasing the income of poor households.

The opening ceremony of the fair is held on Tuesday in Tongchuan.

The fair was sponsored by the Tongchuan Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government, and organized by the Tongchuan Agricultural and Rural Bureau, the Tongchuan Poverty Alleviation and Development Bureau, the Tongchuan Bureau of Commerce, the Tongchuan Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, and the Tongchuan Council for the Promotion of International Trade.  

Also, as part of the celebrations for the third Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, the fair displayed the poverty alleviation products of 198 production enterprises (cooperatives) in Tongchuan City, covering 12 categories of 1,200 products, including cereals and oils, fruits, animal husbandry, vegetables, forest products, handicrafts, seedlings and flowers, agricultural processing products, traditional Chinese medicine and health care, aquaculture, ceramics and agricultural materials.

The total area of the exhibition booths inside and outside the fair is 20,000 square meters, and they display achievements in poverty alleviation including the construction of poverty alleviation infrastructure, livelihood security, eco-tourism and social assistance programs.

The exhibition of the main poverty alleviation products, modern agricultural equipment displays, Chinese herbal medicine and product displays, aquaculture displays, poverty alleviation factory product displays, online live broadcasts, e-commerce achievements displays and folk snacks were set up outside of the main exhibition hall of the fair to attract business people and local visitors.
