WorldSkills winners can enter university with exam exemption

Xinhua Updated:2020-04-20

Chinese winners of the WorldSkills Competitions can qualify for university entrance with exemption from sitting national exams.

This policy, unveiled via a circular on the website of the Ministry of Education, applies to those WorldSkills winners who are secondary and higher vocational school graduates and intend to pursue higher vocational education or bachelor-level higher education.

University entrance applications under this policy shall be delivered to targeted higher education institutions where they will undergo a review process before a list of the to-be-admitted applicants is unveiled for public scrutiny, said the circular.

The move, according to the ministry, aims to improve the training for and international competitiveness of China's skilled people.

Sponsored by WorldSkills International, the WorldSkills Competition is an event held once every two years with competitors from across the world gathering to compete for skill excellence.
